Cruising for Conservation is an international marine conservation conference bringing together professors, scientists, students and the general public. The goal of the conference is to increase awareness and foster positive change regarding the many conservation challenges facing marine life and marine ecosystems globally.



Saturday January 4 through Sunday January 12, 2020

Professors and scientists will give presentations on various topics regarding marine conservation while on-board the ship. Selected graduate students may also present to the conference attendees on pre-approved subjects. 

​Poster presentations will be conducted by both graduates and undergraduates.

Educational grants will be awarded to selected poster presenters

During ports of call marine biologist, professors, and scientists will be leading optional field activities designed to observe and interact with local marine life and ecosystems.

This years conference will be held aboard the Carnival Magic 

January 4-12, 2020 departing from and returning to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and visiting

San Juan - Grand Turk - St. Maarten - St. Kitts 

Who should attend:  
Anyone interested in marine conservation and especially undergraduate college students, recent college graduates, graduate students, professional scientists, professors, and non-scientist adults with a passion for our marine world and conservation.

Since this conference takes place aboard a cruise ship, you can travel with your family and friends even if they do not want to attend the conference. Carnival has a wonderful kids camp for your little ones, and if you are traveling with teenagers or other adults who do not wish to attend the conference, there are numerous fun activities for them to do aboard the ship while you are in conference sessions. Plus, everyone will get to enjoy the amazing ports-of-call !

How to attend the conference/cruise: 

Conference/Cruise Registration - Please register for the conference/cruise using the registration form page of this website. Everyone going on the cruise whether they are attending the conference or just accompanying a conference attendee needs to fill out this form so your cabin can be booked with the cruise line.  

A deposit of $250 per person to secure your cabin is required upon registration. However, if Carnival is running any type of sale that you may qualify for, including reduced deposits and on-board credit, please let us know and we can secure that offer for you!  

You can either include your credit card information on the registration form or call 843-246-0750 to pay with a credit card over the phone.  

Conference Attendees - To attend the conference a conference fee of $169 will be due prior to October 1, 2019 and can be paid using a credit card, PayPal or check. Only people attending the conference need to pay the conference registration fee and only conference attendees will be admitted during all presentations and will have priority for all scientist led shore excursions. Conference attendees are not required to give any presentations, but may request to do so on the registration form. 

The conference fee is paid to the Moore Center for Marine Conservation, a non profit, and this fee is tax deductible.
